Did it again with a friend. She had Panic. I brought Olias on minion-duty, Jin on barrage and found my Sousuke healer had issues but managed to hold it together.
Our biggest trouble was the group of Jade Cloak near the end, but that was mainly because they weren't balling up and were getting a lot of spells off.

Last night I PUGGED and that Panic mesmer owned them all.

LOL - Funny thing about Panic, people don't realize that it takes half a brain to use it well. Spending some attribute points in Domination Magic, using it on foes in the Middle of the mob (hopefully the target stay there - hehe), and a little CoP thrown in for good measure is always fun.

1 Hour IWAY is epic in this mission. Try it.
And so much for the QQers saying the Mesmer buffs didn't improve anything. Panic rules here!

Well, some have only played a few months, or maybe a year or two.
LOL, but yeah, it doesn't seem that difficult. I tried it once, with myself and 3 heroes. Not an optimal build either (more like a para fast running group build, that's OK across the spectrum). I made it until the boss jades started popping, then they pretty much swept from the first staircase (where I held all prior groups) to Salma in about 1 minute...
Shouldn't be too hard, with an optimized build, and 1 more hero (myself and 4 heroes)... Barrage and splinter is looking quite tasty...
EDIT: Also, I did it on my non-infused-armor 'sin (may want to infuse now, LOL!)...

Manage to kill Oizys the Miserable fairly easily with H/H... then got totally owned....
Positioning is the key.... somebody / something needs to slow then at the top of the stairs... ie MM / spirits or tank then have all your nukes hiding just round the corner.
I was a Monk using Barrage... silly... but it works.... with Tryptofan signet to slow them and EBBOH to add damage.
Took SF nuker, SoS with Splinter and a barrage ranger (he was position just behind me) Also took Orion and Alesia for all that they did.

Just did it with H&H in hm... I have to say this was great content it forces you to get creative with your builds... People that are getting stuck are still using the old cookie cutter builds.... I hope this is just the end of WiK and not Guild Wars beyond.

If you have already completed this mission/quest, are you able to tag along again to help out?

Yep, the other person/people simply talk to Bartholos in LA Keep and tagalongs can join in.

There's a lot of Panic-love in this thread but I found it kind of pointless; the exclamation marks make it seem like more impressive than it is.
In a party of 6 I would rather have a damage elite instead of a defensive elite because I found I was less likely to wipe if I simply didn't overextend and aggro too many mobs. Camping on the stairs next to Nola Sheppard was optimal in my experience.

Thoroughly loved the battle. Had tried it a couple of times with just me and H/H, and sadly wiped, although not without making a dent on the WM forces.
Have completed it with guildies, and made our way through running with a spirits rit, MM nec, Barrage/Volley ranger, Panic mes and 2 sane hero monks.
Even with the failures I had a great time, and am sorry the battle is not repeatable. Am glad I have a few characters I can run through it, though.
Was it hard? yup
Was it too hard? nope, it can be beaten
Was it fun? Definitely

Not going to read everyones comments, don't feel like it. Just going to respond to the OP...get over it, learn to play, it's not that bad or that difficult. What you want everything easy peasy? play pac man then....good grief.

I made it in Normal mode with a team of 4.
Me and 4 Heroes.
- N_Rt MM
- Rt Spirit communing.
- Rt Spirit channeling.
I had some problems because I was an elementalist. That means making next to no damage at all to them unless you bring burning.
They brought insane amounts of elemental defense. It took a while taking down the Aegis because of that. But with a mesmer, it's piece of cake. That chaos damage kills them in a blink.

Did it in HM with Cuilan, Malican, Gyre, and 2 heroes.
Positioning really matters.

erm....
me and a friend, he have 3 necro heros, i brought Razah Spirit Spamming ... it wasn't that hard if you have a friend, next i am going to try with lvl 10 hench, see how it goes. The thing is DO NOT GET PANIC (not the skills) and get on same target. use the npc rangers to help out. if one or 2 foes get pass, let them go, they won't go far.
Do not rush out of the Lion's Arch gate.
Bring consumables and Rez Scrolls , we completed before the con wears out. It was fun. the annoying things are the pop ups. Also Kiting is very useful in this scenario. Jade armor tend to like to chase you around. Draw the malee away from the healers instead of trying to "down" the healers first.
my ele had, lava arrows, rogorts, mind blast, glowing glaze, fire attune, mark of rogorts, rebirth, elemental lord (no use what-so-ever, should have brought res sig)

Did it in a pug group, was a derv(hard enough to find a group as it is) so i decided to join what i thought was a fail group that consisted of a 100b war, moebius sin, SoS, SH ele, and UA monk. I was a AoL derv and i brought along ether nightmare and CoP just for the fun of it. For some odd reason someone brought a whole con set and it was almsot like dicing through cake. We only whiped once at the last boss group and they didnt even get hear the first flight of stairs near the gate.
Wish they could make this repeatable but with lower rewards like with dungeons.

Sounds like my first pug. You weren't the 1000 health point derv by any chance?
I can't decide to go as crit scythe sin or moebius instead. Sin and pug was a big nono yesterday unless it was crit barrage sin. :/

I did it no problem with a prot necro necro/rit healer and a spirit pooper. I ran my mesmer and since she is so ridiculoulsy over powered I smoked each group. I will admidt I died a couple of times but since they fall back and advance slowly I was able to hold the choke point Salma did not fall for me. And the opositions did alot of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! and alot of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they where in a state of panic
P.S. If you are really having troubles... When in doubt buy it out. Conset FTW

1) People have done it with H/H, so it's perfectly possible. Difficult, but possible.
2) God forbid the finale of the best content we've had in...well, years, encourage people to play together. Use your alliance, use PUGs (I've PUG-ed it on three characters so far, only failed once). Literally the only headache has been finding a monk (gogoGW2...).
Oh yeah, and a mesmer with mass interrupts (Either Panic or Psychic Instability, plus Cry of Pain and Frustratio) will make those massive mobs useless. Splinter barragers have a field day here, too.

For you solo players I get the feeling people are not using the choke point that lets you decimate to them. (Choke point being the first set of steps before the fountain area ) Walls both sides brings them close
If you are solo do not rely on Hench for heals. Take the other hench they will help kill
Heroes will shine especially SAB builds a Necro/rit mixed with a necro/prot they are crazy energy makers. Balance in a heavy damage dealer like a spirit pooper
Some main char examples
Necro
Putrid Explosion
Well of Suffering (mixed with ether nightmare is some heavy degeneration)
Well of Profane
Ritualist
Spirit Rift
Splinter Weapon
Elementalist Intensity or "By Ural's Hammer!" mixed with
Water
Assassins promise / glyph of lesser energy
Deep freeze
Maelstrom
Earth
Assassins promise / glyph of lesser energy
Churning earth
Eruption
Grasping Earth
Wards can’t hurt your team
Fire
Assasins promise / glyph of lesser energy
Meteor shower
Searing heat
Teina’s heat
Mark of Rodgort one of my favorites love to wand people to death
Although I would like to try the mission again with a Shrine capping explosion build.
Mesmer
Panic it’s about all you need (at least till they nerf it)
Chaos Storm can’t hurt
Ether nightmare is a nice addition Mass area hex
Cry of pain
